2023 Meta-moments, Airside, Hong Kong
The peaceful expression on a plastic resuscitation dummy developed for CPR training has captured my imagination, evoking thoughts about human conditions in the conflicted world. My large-format photograph, titled “Anne, Are You Okay?”, features Anne in a liminal state, dressed against the backdrop of violence and destruction. Is her face an expression of relief, or does it convey anxiety, fear, and moments that we can’t confront alone?
Vulnerability is the driving force of connection. When a life is at stake, pressing our lips against Anne becomes a monumental symbolic act, akin to the vital breath of air we share. This act of offering power, rather than seizing it, holds immense significance.
Art has the power to create something tangible through the imagination. I hope that through Anne, we can cultivate a sense of integrity, ensuring that each breath we give and take is a gesture of kindness and humility towards one another.
