Currently Residing and working in Hong Kong, visual artist Claire Lee’s artistic endeavours are grounded in practical research. She explores the fragility and strength of various dimensions, such as physical and emotional pain, derived from human experiences. Drawing inspiration from vulnerability and beauty, Lee’s creative process encompasses a diverse range of media. They are interested in experimenting with tactile materials, textures and treatments, resulting in works that span from paintings and drawings to objects, poetry, and photography.
Her works have been exhibited in solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, and art fairs, such as Hong Kong Art Central, Amnesty International (Hong Kong), the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art (United Kingdom), and the Northern Arizona University Art Museum (United States), where she participated in a juried exhibition titled “Politics, Violence, and Reconciliation.”
Lee’s latest series of paintings and costumes utilise her imagination to express collective grief related to the scourge of war, offering profound reflections on the human condition.
